The label reads Batik Semar Solo Indonesia. Batik Semar was founded in 1947 by Somadi and Niniek Elia Kasigit as Batik Bodronoyo but the new name of Batik Semar was adopted in 1966. This vintage 1970s kaftan is very loose fitting, made with no closures so is meant to simply fit over the head. The sleeves are made similarly
